The long wait is nearly over, the new Fate Stay Night series will be Unlimited Blade Works and it will be airing this fall in October. FSN fans responded really well to the darker tone of the Fate Zero Prequel last year and it is no surprise that we are getting a new series.
Fate Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works will see many of the original voice actors returning to the series. Even if you saw the Unlimited Blade Works film, it did not come close to covering all the material in the UBW route of the game, so be prepared for a few surprises! The series will also follow the darker tone of Fate Zero rather than the lighter tone of the original Fate Stay Night anime series from years ago, which was based on the Fate Route of the games. The three routes in the original game were Fate which represents clinging to childhood ideals, Unlimited Blade Works, which deals with confronting your childhood illusions being shattered by reality on the path to adulthood, and finally Heaven’s Feel, setting childhood ideals aside as an adult. Essentially the three routes represent different ways or ideological perspectives of addressing the same issues of the Holy Grail War and the consequences each different path holds.
I think if this series is as successful as Fate Zero we can expect a Heaven’s Feel series or movie by 2017.
